Mood Disorders

There are several types of Mood Disorders that are, at times, referred to as “Affective Disorders.” The main symptom of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) includes irritable mood or depression for at least a two-week period of time. The main symptom of Manic Depression, also known as Bipolar Disorder (BPD), is as at least one episode of depressed or irritable mood and, at least, one episode of manic or persistently elevated mood. Mood disorders can be the result of general medical conditions such as infections, injuries or chronic medical illness and can also be substance induced. The clinicians at Portland Anxiety Clinic will help you determine if you are suffering from a Mood Disorder and will help give you guidance and coping tools.
